Title: Since You’ve Been Gone

Author: Morgan Matson

Published: May 2014

Rating: ★★★★

Summary: This is the story of Emily and her best friend Sloane. Sloane and her family suddenly pick up and leave, leaving Emily to wonder why they left and where they went. Emily had high hopes for a summer filled with she and her best friend, but with Sloane gone, she needs to rethink her plan with the help of some new friends and a mysterious list of things to do sent in the mail.

Why I Am Recommending: Take this novel for what it is, a sweet and breezy story of friendship and young love. It is not going to change your world, but it will likely have you reflecting back on your own formative years. This book was a giant slice of nostalgia for me, which made me think about my own experiences at this age with my best friend. I liked Emily and I liked her taste in music…for the most part. This is a light and enjoyable read.
